Calls flood Governor's office demanding a moratorium!

HANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CALLED GOV. RENDELL Dec 10th-12th!
Pennsylvania Abolitionists extends its sincere appreciation to all those who took the time to call Gov. Rendell's offices last week. We received reports from individuals who placed calls to the governor from every corner of the state and from concerned activists from other states as well, including Indiana, Virginia and New Mexico. Calls even came in from overseas, including several from Australia! Thanks so much to each of you for taking the time to make a difference. We also want to thank everyone who helped make the action a success by publicizing it through word of mouth or forwarding it to other individuals or groups. And special thanks is due to the many state and national organizations that provided us with a major boost by sending the action out to their extensive lists!

It became clear soon after the action began that we were making an impact. Callers reported that their concerns were well received by the governor's staff, some of whom appeared sympathetic about the need for a moratorium. While most of the calls did not result in extensive interaction, there seemed to be more opportunity for dialogue than in previous phone actions Pennsylvania Abolitionists organized in April and October. Targeting the governor's regional offices as well as his main office in the Capitol helped to localize the action for citizens from different parts of the state and also extended our message to a greater number of his staff.
