"It's difficult to describe what it is like to serve time on death row knowing you are innocent. All you know is that what seems like an awful nightmare is now reality, a reality beyond comprehension." - Ray Krone, released from prison, April 8, 2002

Major demonstration at State Capitol, 12 noon
Contact: Kurt Rosenberg, 215-724-6120 (innocencetour@aol.com)

"From Death Row to Freedom: Voices of Innocence" will convene on the steps of the State Capitol in Harrisburg, joined by hundreds of citizens from across the Commonwealth to demand that Gov. Mark Schweiker impose an immediate moratorium on executions in Pennsylvania. Starting at noon on October 23 (the two-year anniversary of William Nieves' release from death row), there will be speeches, music and, most important, the testimony of several men who spent nearly two decades in prison for crimes they did not commit, waiting to be killed by the government before their convictions were overturned. This major demonstration will conclude the two-week "From Death Row to Freedom" tour, which will travel to every part of the state, bearing witness against the death penalty (see schedule below).

Your presence in Harrisburg on October 23 is critical as we send a resounding message to Pennsylvania's leaders that blatant abuses of human rights will not be tolerated. The Voices of Innocence need your support as they take their message directly to the Governor. Please join them, and try to encourage as many people as possible to stand behind these courageous individuals. Consider sending a bus, vans and carpools to the Capitol -- and forward this message to anyone who might be interested in joining us for what will prove to be a memorable day for anti-death penalty activists in Pennsylvania.
